R&R Days
If your child is not quite ready to join a Holiday Activity Day, or just needs a shorter day, give an R&R Day a try! For those in Year 3 - Year 6 (including those going into Year 7 in September).

Drop them off at 9.30am and pick them up at 3.15pm, and lunch is included!
Please make sure your young person is covered in sun cream when you drop them off, and make sure you have reminded them to reapply during the day. In order to join us all participants must be confident and comfortable in water - this means they would not panic if they were to fall in, and could get themselves back to the side/boat without any physical aid.
As with all Longridge adventures, they'll be experiencing Risk in a controlled and safe environment to help build Resilience. These days will have a slower pace and tailored activities to suit our more nervous guests. We will be starting with Team Challenges/Trebuchet and some icebreakers to get the group going and introduce everyone to each other, before moving on to Bushcraft. After that we will provide lunch, and then we will head out on the river for some Bell Boating. Bell Boating is a water activity but is not a submerged activity - they will not go IN the river unless they choose to ignore instructors and get up and jump in!
We have designed these days at the request of parents/guardians who:
- have young people who are not ready for a full 8.30am-5pm day
- have a young person who is attending with their school later in the year and is a bit nervous, so wants to have a look around without doing all the activities before they get a chance to come on their school trip
- are moving up to Secondary school and don't feel quite ready (why not get a group together who are all starting at the same school, and make some friends ahead of time? We can even create days for specific schools if desired, just get in touch)
- have young people who want to experience the outdoors but have not done many activities before, and so need a softer start and introduction into adventure
- have young people who have attended our Wild Days and would like a step inbetween before they start in the older group
- have young people who are not keen on heights (no roped activities on an R&R Day!) or are not keen on going into the River.
- do not need a full day of childcare and so just want the later start and earlier finish
- want their young people outdoors and active, but feel the Holiday Activity Days could be too much for them at the moment
We are trialling these days to see if they can help with the above, and so may well add more in the Summer if desired.
Please be aware that these days may not be appropriate for all of those with additional needs, and young people who attend must be in mainstream school without additional support. If your young person has additional needs, please get in touch with us directly rather than booking online so that we can work together to find a day suitable for them. Most activities can be adapted for those with physical additional needs, but this does need to planned in advance so please get in touch before booking.
If you would like to book using childcare vouchers, please email all your details to reception@longridge.org.uk as sadly the childcare voucher system is too complicated for our online bookings system to manage at this time. Please do not book online as we will not be able to refund and swap to childcare vouchers. Please note that there is a £5 admin charge for childcare voucher bookings. Childcare voucher bookings need to be made well in advance, as the childcare voucher providers do not send payment immediately - it can often take up to a week (sometimes more, for certain providers) for the payment to reach us and your booking to be made. We cannot accept any last minute childcare voucher bookings for this reason, apologies.
Please ensure all information provided during the booking process is correct, particularly their date of birth and any additional/medical needs. We cannot be held responsible if you provide incorrect information that prevents us effectively caring for any participant. We have the separate courses for different age ranges for a reason, please respect this and provide the correct information needed to support our guests.
